Aung Chit Khin is an entrepreneur, marketer and educator with an active interest in promoting the role and responsibility of business organizations in Myanmar’s development. He was born in July 1980 to U Chit Khin and Daw Aye Aye Sein in Yangon, Myanmar. After high school, he studied at University of Delaware, USA for a year. He then returned to Yangon to manage his parents’ music production business.
He holds a Professional Diploma and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM, UK). Aung obtained his MBA from University of Nottingham at the University’s Malaysia Campus in 2009. He has a diploma in computer studies and a diploma in French as well. He also attended numerous business training programs including two executive master classes with the marketing guru – Professor Philip Kotler. He also attended Bonn International Summer School on Sustainability, Germany in 2013 sponsored by GIZ and supported by Myanmar Young Entrepreneurs Association (MYEA).
In 2006, he established a weekly publication for children – Putet Comics and now he is launching a comic subscription application for mobile phones, the first of its kind in Myanmar.
Aung has been teaching marketing and management subjects at various management centers in Yangon since he was 24. He founded Strategy First Institute (www.strategyfirstinstitute.com) in 2010 February to develop socially responsible and successful managers and businesses in Myanmar. The Institute currently focuses on entrepreneurship, corporate strategy, branding and marketing management disciplines. The Institute is also an Approved Centre of the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM), UK in Myanmar. His areas of academic interests include Entrepreneurship, Nation Branding, Sustainability and Responsible Business Practices, Innovation, Organizational Culture, Corporate Reputation Management and Online Social Networks. He also offers trainings to various companies and his clients include many national and global companies such as– Unilever Myanmar, Nivea Skin Care (Beiersdorf), DKSH Market Expansion Services, Chatrium Royal Lake Hotel – Yangon, Ayeyarwady Bank, Shwe Taung Group of Companies, TMW Enterprise, Myanmar Indobest and Zifam Pharmaceuticals. Within the last 5 years, over 3000 students have studied at the Institute and Strategy First has grown to be recognized as one of the top centers for Marketing and Management Studies in Myanmar. The consultancy arm of the Institute, ACK & Co Consultants, advises leading companies from consumer sector in Myanmar on corporate strategy, brand development and go-to-market strategies. The firm also provides qualitative consumer research services. His clients include the British Council –Yangon, Premier Milk Powder, Rocket Internet GmbH, the global Internet Venture Capital Firm based in Germany and Lafarge, the world’s leading cement manufacturer.
Aung has also been actively involved in a number of professional associations and volunteer works as well. He co-founded Myanmar Marketing Association (MMktA) and Nottingham Buddhist Society at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus. He is also an Central Executive Committee Member of Myanmar Young Entrepreneurs Association (MYEA). He organized a joint Strategy First-MYEA 72-hour creative entrepreneurship program for 52 participants in May 2013. He organized his entrepreneurship workshops with the help of comic artists from the comic business – allowing participants to express their innovative ideas in details. He is often invited by the Union of Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI), Myanmar SME Center (Ministry of Industry) to give lectures in marketing, innovation entrepreneurship at industrial zones across Yangon.
